OUCH!

From FAIL Blog

Come to think of it, this is exactly what happened to the guy who SPRINTED past me in the closing meters of the Shamrocks & Shenanigans 5K in Ann Arbor on March 14. He blasted past me on the left with about 10 meters to go and when he was only a few feet in front of me he completely lost his footing on the damp pavement (it had been raining that morning) and crashed to the ground so hard he actually skidded for a few feet. The sound of his bare skin scraping across the asphalt was rather...gruesome. I was hoofing it to the finish and when that guy went down in front of me I had to do a little zig-zag and hop to avoid stomping on his outstretched flailing arm. The assembled crowd emitted a collective gasp. I crossed the finish line and looked back to see him hobbling to the end.

On one hand, man, that must have hurt, and sucks to be him. On the other hand, really, dude, did you have to channel Usian Bolt in the final moments of the race? What was that all about anyway? There's finishing strong, and then there's doing so little for the entire race you have enough energy to sprint like a madman. You looked like a GOOBER.

In other news, tonight I am going to a live show featuring this fine band. I am quite excited.

I hereby nominate THIS POST as the Least Sexy Post EVAH to include the phrase "when that guy went down in front of me I had to ... zig-zag and hop".

I mean, the post was good and all. It's just I expect so much ... more from posts featuring guys going down, is all.

Am I alone in this feeling?

This happened at the Gate River Run in Mile 1 (the face plant) it was not pretty and the fact that you heard skin on asphalt kinda makes me want to puke. Ouch!

She tried to win by the skin of her nose. Didn't work.

Way to make me cringe. I love a good faceplant story. Way to hop over the failed passer and finish strong without losing your skin. Cheers!

Glaven is used to being alone by now. He should be at least.

Ugh, tough to read, let alone watch and dodge. While less than a fan of those who sprint to the finish, I'm uninterested in seeing them induce self-inflicted asphalt KOs.

Did you ever bother to check to see if he was OK?
