Probably a little of both! Preparedness AND madness. I only had 10 miles scheduled on this snowy 20 degree morning, but I had to fill my bottle with hot water, too!
May want to try putting your jacket over your camelbak. It looks silly, but it keeps the tubes from freezing.
Good luck with the ran; I hope the IT band doesn't cause any issues!

Yep, during our brutal December and January in Western Colorado, I'd start with warm water in my handheld-otherwise, there would be a sheet of ice starting to form on the inside within the hour!
